Notes: The seventh and final Australia Cup tournament was conducted over the entire 1968 season composed of teams that had qualified through their performances in their respective 1967 state league seasons. Participation in the Cup series was limited to one team from the ACT, Northern New South Wales, Queensland, Western Australia and Tasmania, two from South Australia with six each from Victoria and Sydney (NSW). Enterants were rigidly segregated into two geographical zones - East and West - ensuring Sydney and Melbourne teams did not meet until the semi-finals. Despite the sponsorship of the Ansett-ANA airline the competition concluded with the Australian Soccer Federation citing increased costs and lack of crowd support for its non-contination. This came to a head with Perth club Azzuri refusing to travel to Sydney to play its second leg of the semi-final after being beaten 4-1 in the first leg in Perth.
