Notes: The second Australia Cup tournament was sponsored by W.D. & H.O. Wills to the tune of £5,000 and featured teams from Tasmania taking part for the first time. Sadly Western Australian clubs were ommitted owing to the travel costs. The four leading teams in Sydney (NSW), Newcastle (NNSW), Queensland, Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia qualified automatically, playing a series of local elimination matches to bring the number to two from Sydney and Victoria, with one each from Newcastle, Queensland, South Australia and Tasmania. Queensland and Newcastle teams had a further play off resulting in two Brisbane teams making the quarter finals.
