Note: The format of the 1962 Dockerty Cup differed from that of previous years. Because of the increased size of the lower tiers it was decided to confine the 1962 Cup to 16 teams, the 12 State League teams and the top 2 teams from the Metropolitan League Division 1 North and South. The top 8 teams from the State League were seeded to play the bottom 4 of the State League and the Division 1 teams. Clubs which did not qualify for the Dockerty Cup played in the Federation Cup.
