Australia was invited to play in the 6th Djakarta Anniversary Cup Tournament in Indonesia. Under director of coaching Eric Worthington the Australain Soccer Federation took care of a squad that was picked in such a way that every state was represented instead of on player merit. Worthington could not make use of some other first string players because they were involved in an Australian squad playing visiting club sides Manchester United and Glasgow Rangers. The first match of the tournament saw Australia play South Korea.
