The West Australian, May 12, 1900 - The date is November 17 of last year. "On Friday the Gordons played the Light Horse at British Association football and, during the game, the envious Boer artillery dropped a shell on the playground. Under cover of the smoke the Gordons sneaked a goal, and the point as to whether such a contingency-is covered by the rules of the game has been remitted to the English sporting authorities. The military sports begin to-morrow and last three days."
