In the second of the two matches played in Adelaide last night the tournament favourites, and South American champions Brazil met the Asian champions Saudi Arabia. The Saudis are coached by a brazilian and looking at them play was an eye opener in the standard of football there. After seven minutes a chance at goal came to the Saudis but the excellent Dida kept goal well. On the other end Gian came close early. The game was entertaining with end to end action, the Saudi keeper, Hussein Al Sadig, was very acrobatic, self assured and sound. He gave the team confidence at the back and should be set for a good future in football. The real stand-out player, on either side, was Fahad Al Ghesheyan he was the one the Saudis looked for to score and he frequently threatened to do so. The brazilian coaching showed in his ball skills. Wagner was caught in a harsh tackle by a sliding Saudi defender who was booked for his troubles. Al Sadig was kept busy throughout the game but credit should go to the players in front of him for reducing the danger in Brazil's chances. The second half continued with the same bright, open play which promised goals but never delivered. Brazil, showing their frustration had a player (Pereira) sent off. He tried to head the ball out of the hands of the Saudi keeper. Stupid, stupid, stupid. He had been booked earlier and this piece of shenanigans got him an early shower in the 73rd minute. Cate and Gian played well for the Brazilians but the team failed to make an impression on the scoreline. AlGesheyan was dangerous as ever. Having two clear chances to give the Suadis a shock lead before Pereira's dismissal. The second of these chances was very well saved by Dida who had to leap high to his right to stop the fierce drive going into the top left of the net. In the end neither side managed to score, the Brazilians no doubt disappointed not to win. Saudi Arabia 0 - Brazil 0 Referee : Sergie Khusainov (Russia)
