Defending champions SASI Pirates sealed their berth with a tight 2-1 win over Northern NSW Pride, a result which put contenders Northern Pride and QAS Sting out of the race with NSW expected to win the following match over Victoria.

Pride claimed the lead in the 13th minute, Julie King rising above the pack to convert a corner kick with a solid header.

But just two minutes later, Pirates had equalised through Sharon Black, beating her marker before finishing with a well-struck shot into the top of the net.  Pride were further setback with the injury of defender Cheryl Salisbury soon after, adding to star striker and Matildas teammate Sunni Hughes' absence through injury.

Jessica Halfpenny gave SASI the lead in the 38th minute with a low drive from the edge of the box.  Both sides created good chances in the second half, but there were no further goals.

Matildas striker Julie Murray scored all five goals in NSW Sapphires' 5-0 win over last-placed Victoria Vision, back in Australia briefly during a break in her commitments with the World All-Stars Team on the US Victory Tour.

However it was Vision who had made the brighter start and almost scored the opening goal, Sarah Fitzgerald smacking the ball against the crossbar from 20 metres after just seven minutes.

It took the depleted Sapphires 25 minutes to settle into their game, with Murray then soon creating havoc with her every move.

Murray opened her account in the 28th minute, running at the defence before striking low from the edge of the box, the ball slipping through the keeper's clutches and in.   Her second came three minutes from half-time, set up with a brilliant piercing pass from defender Taryn Rockall.  Murray turned her defender, drew the keeper and slotted home from 12 metres.

Two minutes after the break came the Murray hattrick, receiving a long ball from deep on the right and shaking off her marker before placing the ball inside the left post from 15 metres.  Another eight minutes in, Murray collected a Michelle Carney cross, turned and blasted from the edge of the box into the top of the net.  4-0.

Murray struck again in the71st minute, a drive from the left flying inside the right post.  Several more strikes from Murray were not to end in goals, her tally of five equalling the record set by SASI's Jessica Halfpenny last season, also achieved in a 5-0 win.

QAS Sting ran away with an emphatic 5-1 victory over ACTAS Canberra Eclipse, with Belinda Dawney scoring a hattrick in the process.

Sting were handed the early lead after 9 minutes, a mix-up resulting in Canberra defender Traci Bartlett heading over the head of outcoming keeper Amy Beattie and into goal.  Eclipse fought back and equalised in the 31st minute with a well-worked team goal.  Sacha Wainwright fed the ball from the backline up the left flank and kept running, receiving the ball back and hitting a pinpoint cross on the run.  The ball fell nicely for Dior Foxhill bursting in on the far post to strike from 14 metres.

But a quick double from Dawney within the space of four minutes soon after was to set up the QAS victory.  A good cross from the right was met on the run by Dawney to head home from 10 metres.  Her second was an exact carbon copy of the first, again Dunne the provider.

Eclipse never gave up and continued to create chances but without luck.  In the meantime, Sting punished the 'home' side for some shaky back play.  Nine minutes after the break, Canberra's substitute keeper spilled a lobbed cross allowing Olivia Hohnke to make the easy conversion.

Dawney's triple was completed in the 78th minute, a waist-height ball miskicked by defender Bartlett with Dawney racing in to pressure.  Winning the ball, Dawney made no mistake from close range.
