The points were shared in this clash between the second and third-placed teams, although Northern created more than enough chances to win.  They found themselves up against a solid SA defence and some fine work by keeper Tracey Wheeler.

Against the run of play, it was SASI who snatched the lead, Marie Spagnoletti driving into the top of the net from 15 metres on the left.  But almost from the very next play, Pride were awarded a penalty after Pirates' Chi Chi May unluckily handballed in the box.  Cheryl Salisbury wrongfooted Wheeler with the resultant penalty for Northern's equaliser.

SASI reclaimed the advantage 16 minutes into the second half, a blocked freekick attempt falling deep to Spagnoletti whose drive from 22 metres on the left flew through a crowded box and into the back of the net.  Northern peppered the opposition goal for the remainder and finally broke through for the equaliser in the last few minutes.   A neat ball from the left was flicked into goal by defender Salisbury from close range.

QAS Sting finally broke their season goal drought with an absolute flood of goals for a 5-1 victory over last-placed Canberra Eclipse today.  Yet it was Eclipse who drew first blood in the 28th minute, Dior Foxhill's drive from the right parried by the keeper, but the force of the shot carrying it over the line.

Two minutes later, the long-awaited first Sting goal came from Lisa Dunne, a poor pass at the back allowing the veteran in to drill home.

Then, after 300 minutes without scoring, the Sting immediately followed up with a second in the very next minute to set up their runaway win.  A neat chip pass from Alicia Ferguson was met by Bryony Duus on the run who took one touch to give her space ahead of the defence and slotted her shot from 8 metres.

Substitute Belinda Dawney collected a through ball midway through the second half and struck past the outcoming keeper, and added a second late in the game from a goalmouth scramble.  In the meantime, Ferguson unleashed a rocket from 20 metres into the top of the net.

Goal: Leigh Terek 89
NSW Sapphires raced to a four-point lead, outclassing Victoria Vision by the margin of 4-1, their second such scoreline in three days to keep their perfect winning record.   A quick-fire double within the space of two minutes in the first half set the tone, whilst Sapphires' third two minutes after the break killed off any Victorian hopes.

The Sapphires entertained their 'home' fans with a fantastic display of skilled football, combining well all over the park.  Joanne Burgess' header from 14 metres into the top of the net in the 34th minute, was quickly followed by a Michelle Carney header to finish an Alicia Cavanagh cross for the 2-0 lead.

Midfielder Heather Garriock then went solo from the right touchline, cutting inside before drilling the ball home inside the far post from 24 metres.  Kelly Golebiowski capped off the win with the fourth goal, a neat little touch giving her an inch of space past her marker to nail the ball in from 20 metres.

With the clock ticking down, Vision striker Leigh Terek finished in clinical fashion past the keeper from 15 metres for the consolation goal.
