In Adelaide, Queensland Sting gained a 3-1 victory over a gallant Adelaide Sensation with a superior display of football. The visitors certainly showed the better combinations and flowing passes, but Sensation also were able to push forward into attack in an entertaining contest.

Sting claimed the lead inside the first six minutes of play when the Adelaide goalkeeper brought down Sasha McDonnell and were awarded a penalty, and Lana Harch made no mistake with the spot kick. Sensation came close to equalising midway through the half when Vicki Balomenos saw her shot just tipped over the bar by keeper Joanne Buckley.

The lead was doubled on the half hour with the pacy Jessica Mitchell released one-on-one with the keeper and neatly finishing the chance. Balomenos had another opportunity for Sensaiton just before the break but the attempt flew just over.

Adelaide had a surge of energy in attack in the second half, reeling off three shots in the space of four minutes around the 60th minute mark, Balomenos and McCallum keeping the goalkeeper on her toes but without reward. Sting then regained control midway through the stanza with close chances from Ellen Beaumont and McDonnell.

McDonnell capped off a fine performance with Queensland's third goal in the 70th minute, set free with a great through ball and converting well. Adelaide were rewarded with a goal of their own with four minutes to go, Balomenos on the fast break catching the Sting defence flat and shooting in style.

In Melbourne, Northern NSW Pride emerged with a 1-0 victory over Victoria Vision, from a game where the possession was fairly evenly shared. Northern created the more dangerous chances on goal, whilst Vision were not so threatening in attack.

Pride had three early chances, Emma Stevenson's shot turned wide by a defender, before Vision goalkeeper Melissa Barbieri saved well to deny Kate Gill in a one-on-one, and Lauren Colthorpe sent the follow-up chance wide. Joanne Peters was then gifted the ball with a poor defensive clearance, but sent her shot skywards.

Then in the 15th minute, Victoria had the large crowd cheering when Amy Jackson sent her long range freekick curling into the roof of the net but the goal was disallowed as the indirect freekick needed a touch from another player. Northern kept up the attack with a speculative ball into the near post from the left flank by Colthorpe which was scrambled away, and Kate Gill's effort was stopped with a great point blank save by Barbieri.

Northern's Cheryl Salisbury had the ball in the back of the net five minutes after the restart, but the goal was ruled offside. Pride then finally broke the deadlock in the 65th minute, a cross from the right resulting in Salisbury winning an aerial duel with keeper Barbieri on the goalline, the goalie out prone for a while after the challenge.

Pride's Elizabeth Kermode had a shot saved, before a vicious strike by Peters smacked against the crossbar and bounced straight down and was cleared. Vision won a corner kick after some good work by Georgia Koutrouvelis and Sarah Fitzgerald bent the chance just wide. Barbieri again kept her side in the game, thwarting a Gill flick header, before Victoria had a stoppage time chance to snatch the equaliser. A Caroline McEvoy freekick squeezed through the wall and fell to Koutrouvelis whose shot flew just over the target.

In Sydney, NSW Sapphires recorded their third consecutive victory, defeating Canberra Eclipse for the second time in three days, but this time by the impressive scoreline of 5-0. Sapphires dominated the game from start to finish, using the width to good effect and displaying some neat one-touch football.

NSW opened their account in the 7th minute of play, a Katie Hilder cutback slotted home by Kylie Ledbrook from close range. Jo Burgess sent her effort high, before the lead was doubled in the 25th minute. Ledbrook laid off a diagonal ball for Carney who shrugged off her marker and crossed to Hilder and the chance was headed in from the penalty area.

Hilder and Briony Holcombe had shots saved by the keeper, before Ledbrook scored again in the 38th minute, running at the defence and finishing with a cracking drive. The Sapphires went in at the break with a four goal lead after Renee Rollason was denied with a great diving save by Canberra keeper Amy Beattie, but Michelle Carney tapped the ball in from a crowded penalty area from the resultant corner.

Five minutes into the second half, NSW took the tally to five when Rollason finished off a Burgess corner from close range. Eclipse were rarely in sight of goal but their best chance came midway through the second half when Caitlin Munoz was sent through on a breakaway. The goalkeeper parried the shot, but the ball fell into the path of Georgia Chapman who struck high with the goal at her mercy.
