Defending champions Queensland Sting came away with a solid 4-0 victory over Northern NSW Pride in Coffs Harbour, to stay in touch with the front two teams. Sting were the better team overall, but found themselves a little rusty in the opening half, whilst bottom-placed Pride knocked the ball around well and kept the Queensland defence on their toes.

Alicia Ferguson opened Sting's account midway through the first half, beating the keeper to a lofted ball from Zoe Nolan and heading it into goal. Twelve minutes later, Natalie Thomas doubled the lead, putting away the rebound off the goalkeeper who had saved her first attempt.

Two minutes after the restart, Thomas added another with a clever long-range chip over the outcoming keeper. Northern were unlucky when Katie Gill's shot was saved at point-blank range with ten minutes to go. Sting then sewed up the victory with substitute April Mann's cool finish.

Canberra Eclipse made hard work of their 2-0 win over underdogs Victoria Vision, a scrappy first half ending scoreless. The favourites were out of touch and not functioning well as a unit, whilst Vision presented a solid rock in defence. Eclipse picked up their game in the second half but were unable to seal the win until the dying minutes.

Canberra came out attacking straight from the restart, Sacha Wainwright and Amy Wilson close to scoring. They claimed the lead soon after when an outswinging cross from Tal Karp was headed home by Caitlin Munoz. An unmarked Wilson had the next best chance, but shot wide with a close range header. With five minutes remaining, Eclipse were awarded a penalty for a handball in the 18-yard box, and Munoz stuck it away low past the keeper to become the joint top goalscorer with 7 goals, alongside NSW's Alicia Cavanagh.

Frontrunners NSW Sapphires came back from a goal down to finish with a runaway 6-1 win over underdogs Adelaide Sensation in today's WNSL Round Seven game.

In the first match back after the league's two-month break, Adelaide Sensation set the favourites reeling with an early goal. A fairly even first half ensued until NSW Sapphires scored two within the last ten minutes before the break to take the lead. In the very humid conditions, the Sapphires then ran away with the game, wearing down their opponents and scoring four more in the process.

Sensation striker Lisa De Vanna put consistent pressure on the home side defence and was rewarded with a fantastic solo opening goal after 12 minutes of play.  From inside her own half, De Vanna turned past one defender and dribbled past another before sprinting towards goal, her low hard strike reached by the keeper but still trickling over the line.

The goal unnerved the Sapphires who appeared rusty and far from their usual flowing play. They were relieved to equalise in the 34th minute, Kelly Golebiowski on the burst to finish a cross from Kylie Ledbrook. Six minutes later, NSW snatched the lead when Michelle Carney was in the right spot to tap home the crumbs after a save by the keeper.

Ledbrook celebrated her first ever national league goal in style early in the second half, a cross not dealt with by the Adelaide defence allowing the unmarked midfielder to strike first-time from 25 metres.

The Sapphires dominated for the remainder and put the game well beyond the tired visitors with a fourth goal midway through the half. Golebiowski notched up her second goal for the day with a fantastic first-time side volley.

Joanne Peters rubbed further salt into Adelaide's wounds with a pair of goals within the space of five minutes. First she converted a Nicole Kimber freekick with a header from 8 metres, followed by a smart turn and shot into the back of the net from 20 metres.
