Australia 10 - Coffs Harbour XI 0

The LG Young Socceroos have continued their good form in the lead up to the Oceania Qualifiers for the World Youth Cup, with victory over the Coffs Harbour Representative Team, in the second and final training match in Coffs Harbour.

Strikers Josh Kennedy and Scott McDonald both put away hat-tricks, with the Australian Under-20 side hitting in five goals in each half for the 10-0 scoreline.

Kennedy opened the scoring in the 9th minute after a one-two with Grant Last, with McDonald putting his first on the board in the 30th minute.

Three minutes later it was Kennedy again, after the striker capitalized on a defensive mistake to side-foot the ball into the back of the net, while goalkeeper Jess Vanstrattan was called on to make a spectacular save just a minute later, at the other end of the park.

Nick Carle then put the LG Young Socceroos' fourth goal on the board from the penalty spot after McDonald was brought down in the area, while Luke Wilkshire made it 5-0 two minutes from the break.

Vanstrattan was again called into action early in the second half, forced into a double save after he parried a shot from Coffs striker Greg Thomas, and then eventually smothered another attempt from Ben Mackay.

It was all Australian attack from there however, McDonald putting away his second in the 52nd minute, with Kennedy picking up his hat-trick 10 minutes later.

Second half replacement Kevo Gulesserian added his name to the scoreboard in the 75th minute with a long range shot, Wilkshire made it 9-0 with a direct free kick, and McDonald kicked in for his hat-trick in the final minute of play.

"The boys put in a good performance for the full ninety minutes tonight, and basically have capped off a hard working week with a good victory," said coach Ange Postecoglou after the game.

"I was particularly pleased with the second half effort, where they kept up the intensity and persisted, and it was a good effort, because the Coffs Harbour team made it harder than the scoreline suggests.

"We'll keep up with our work schedule, and the whole team is looking forward to the competition that our opposition will provide in the Cook Islands from next week." Postecoglou concluded.
