The Vic Tuting Silver Medal Award replaced the Rothmans Medal in 1989. It recognised the best player in Tasmania between 1989 and 1999.
Between 2000 and the present it recognises the best player in the Southern Premier League.
The medal is named after Vic Tuting the Tasmanian administrator, MBE award recipient, Football Australia Hall Of Fame member and Oceania Honourary President.
