The Victorian Amateur Soccer Football Association staged the 1960 Interstate Carnival - the first since 1954 at Melbourne' Olympic Park over the Queen's Birthday weekend. New South Wales went into the tournament as favourites but were undone by the host state in the first game and never recovered finishing second on the table. The other two matches were against South Australia (win) and Queensland (draw).
