Hugo Giminez scored the only goal of the game as Gippsland Falcons beat
South Melbourne by a goal to nil in the Latrobe Valley. Giminez's strike
came after 13 minutes and the Blues fought hard but could not find an
equaliser.

Albury Wondonga is still trying to break its duck in the NYL South going
down to the Victorian Institute of Sport by a single goal at home on
Saturday. The first half was very even and goal-less, but Zoran Petrevski
scored after 58 minutes, lobbing the keeper as he came out and that was
enough to see the VIS home. Best players for Albury Wodonga were defender
Daniel Nemeth and midfielder Adam Griffiths.

Melbourne Knights beat the South Melbourne Rockets by five goals to nil.
The first goal which set the Knights on their way was a bizarre effort as
Rockets keeper Nick Fladunas dropped a cross on Tony Bilaver's head before
the Knights' winger cannoned into him. The ball crossed the line and the
goal was given. Festim Zekiri scored with an angled shot following a free
kick by Steven Stojanvoski, then Adis Kablar scored with a cute back heel
from a cross by Zekiri, set up by Steve Vugdelja. In the second half
Kablar was left unattended twice to score with easy close range headers.
The Rockets seemed to run out of power though Julian Zach did test keeper
Steven Pavlovic with a header.

Bulleen Inter held a two-one lead over Altona Magic at half-time in their
match at the Veneto Club, but the Magic staged a second half revival to
draw three-all in a thriller, which kept the fans entertained. Steve
Markovski scored in 37 seconds for the Magic, before Bulleen had wakened
up, but Denis Vucinic and Michael Gullino put Bulleen in front by the
break. When Robert Ardesi made it three, it seemed that Bulleen must go
on to win, but Steve Bogdanovski pulled a goal back from the penalty spot
and Slave Bozinovski grabbed a late equaliser. The match got very
physical towards the end with two players sent off.

National Youth League (Northern Division), 14-16 November 1997

Marconi Fairfield Colts had a three-nil win away to the Newcastle Breakers.
Mark Haggar scored after 10 and 44 minutes. Any hopes of a Newcastle
fight back were ended when Haggar completed his hat-trick in the 80th
minute.

New South Wales Institute of Sport lost two-nil to UTS Olympic Colts.
Louis Austin opened the scoring and Bruce Guaramqui made it two. The
Institute lads had a 'shocker' according to reports.

In a tight match at Seiffert Oval the ACT Academy of Sport got an injury
time winner to defeat the Queensland Academy by three goals to two. QAS
went ahead through Alan Cameron in 23 minutes, but J Baxter equalised just
before half-time. Cameron scored his second in 63 minutes but within a
minute M Valeri had restored parity once again. J Mauro scored deep into
stoppage time to give ACT the narrow win.

UTS Olympic beat Sydney United by five goals to two. Husseyn Bayhen was
the hero with a hat-trick in 44, 55 and 56 minutes, while Tayfun Davrimol
got the show under way with a goal in twenty minutes.and Leo Carle
converted a penalty in 36 minutes. Sydney United's goals came from Robert
Angelevski in 48 and 83 minutes.

The Australian Institute of Sport scored eight without reply against the
Sydney United Colts. An unlucky own goal in 8 minutes started the ball
rolling in favour of the AIS and Mile Sterjovski added a second in 18. V
Tomasevski made it three in 37 and Grgo Saric followed in 42 to makde it
four-nil at the interval. In the second half Ante Duer scored early and
late, and Mark Bresciano and Michael Ferrante also got their names on the
score-sheet.
