Newcastle Unites Jets v Melbourne Victory


The Jets and Victory have played out an entertaining scoreless draw at Energy Stadium Australia.

Both teams started brightly at a frenetic pace.

Ricardinho has the first shot on goal which deflects of Mooy and lands safely with Kennedy.

Zadkovich races down the middle of the park on 8 minutes and unleashes a left foot pile driver that beats Petrovic but hits the underside of the cross bar and bounces out.

Hernandez responds for Victory as he tries one from 20 meters but its wide of the far upright and its been 10 games since her has scored.

Angulo looks menacing as he raids down the left he finds pace and drills a low shot that Kennedy is able to save but he spills the ball and no one is following up to tap the ball in.

A clever Hernandez/Kruse one-two splits the Jets defence but Hernandez again is off target.

There is 20 minutes remaining its became more frenetic, one goal will win this one, suddenly a long clearance has Ricardinho clear he races all the way to be at point blank range but from so close Kennedy is able to save.

The Jets put on a beautiful passing move from deep inside their area it ends with Petrovski putting in a through pass in for Elrich but the alert Petkovic is out of his line quickly to gather the ball.

The dying minutes has a dipping Fiorentini cross is met by Abbas but its wide and finally Hernandez puts Kellaway through on goal but he hits a low shot past the near up right.
