Adelaide City dominated this match and made their long time rivals look terribly ordinary. The surprise was that Adelaide took as long as they did before Mori ran onto a Talladira (?) lofted pass over the defence and volleyed it superbly across Martin John into goal. Earlier the keeper had collected a ball from his defender and had an indirect free kick awarded against him just outside his 6-yard box. Had there not been some confusion in the taking of the kick Mori might have had 2 by now. Before halftime gave the Knights a break they went 2 down from an almost identical goal. The only difference being the goalscorer and the force of shot. After the break things got worse when Susa, somewhat unfortunately, racked up 2 yellows and was spared the rest of procedings. Damian Mori got his second goal before the hour when a midfield turnover resulted in another ball over the head of the last defender and Mori ran clear and placed his shot low and (again) across the keeper just inside the far post. Melbourne, since the departure of Andrew Marth, really miss the lack of leadership and determination and the rest of the game petered out into a comfortable Adelaide City win.
