Marconi v Olympic

Round 15 Match report by Julian Farrell
Marconi-Fairfield v UTS Olympic

The night of night arrived (or at least so we thought). The biggest game of the year- Marconi- Olympic at Marconi. And what an ordinary night it proved to be, both as a fan and more succinctly for yours truly. Met up with Breakers listee Chris (and entourage) as well as Dave from down south (resplendant in Carton SC T Shirt).

The crowd was CRAP. Officially 6200 odd, but for a derby between these two clubs this is verging on the disturbing. Two years ago there were 14000 there, now less than half that! And the normally huge Olympic contingent was pathetically small and silent. Still it was Greek night in at the club. Good grief.

We finally received the first of our new STALLIONS flags, but the Blue and White Army was sadly lacking in numbers for such a big game. Thanks a million for the poles anyway Ross. That was a huge help!

Olympic scored one of the softest goals you'll see in history, and Dominic Longo will not be enjoying watching the replay of it either! Thank God we relpied soon after. We spent most of the match attacking against ten men (send off second half) and can consider ourselves lucky to not have lost, as UTS had a shot hit the right post just short of full time. Mendes is EPIC, and I feel he'd do OK for the home-based Socceroos, and all in all with Kim at the back the Stallions are more fluent to watch than a few matches back.Still opposition clubs are having a field day with counter attacks against us, and positive moves are constantly been stuffed up by one dumb pass. But they didn't win, when they had a million chances to.

I'd like to think that the derby was the highlight of the night but sadly my attention was taken by this neckless (brainless?) security guard who was on the verge of throwing me out for (wait for it) singing "Bobby Catlin, what a wanker! What a wanker!" Sure they were scared of the possibility of violence (as last year there was an altercation) but when the security are THE problem things are very sad.

This clown was a real "Macho Man", even worse than the dork at Newcastle last week. The SCG Trust should see the potential in him and sign him up NOW, for he was just as moronic as those that ruin each match behind the goals at the SFS. We were swearing occasionally (nothing unusual) and were taunting Catlin who was loving it and cheering us. And this turd head tryhard clown tries and chucks me out for diddly squat. He even tried to stop us banging the fence? We've been banging it for years!

Ross, I know you are about 5' 4" but can you kill this clown for me. (Perhaps get one of Tony L's "mates"? LOL) The only reason I saw out the end of the game was because one of the STALLIONS called Ross Musso up on his mobile and even spoke to the oaf! Thanks Ross, it must have worked. I'm sure you spoke in small mono-syllable words though!

And it goes without saying that it is nigh impossible to get a supporters club going when the people who are supposed to be there to protect you are giving YOU the hassles.

Not a happy Horsey!
