1994-95 Season Round 10 Matches

Round 10 of the Australian NSL championship (games played 23-27/12)

Morwell Falcons 1	-	Wollongong City 1
(Wollongong wins 4-2 on penalties)
(Brian Bothwell 7) (Sasho Dimoski 37)

MF : Matassa, Douglas, Upton, Canosa, Parton (Marcina 45), Sevin,
     Stergiopoulos, Markovski, Tapai, Bothwell, Spink

WC : Hughes, Bourke, O'Shea, Forshaw, Bonetig, Horsley, Troth (Middleby 72),
Dimoski, Coveny, Akers (Murray 83), A Cervinski

[Morwell lose their second penalty shootout in a row and one begins to wonder
how Morwell would do if they managed to win some of their *7* drawn games.]

Adelaide City 3	-	Melbourne Knights	0
(Joe Mullen 12)
(Damien Mori 72)
(Craig Foster 76)

AC : Jason Petkovic, Ivanovic, Melta, Tobin, Vidmar (Yates 68),
Lozanovski (Gibson 83), Talladira, Mullen, Foster, Hassell, Mori

MK : Juric, Horvat, De Amicis, Buljubasic, D Cervinski, Silic, Tiatto, Biskic,
     Lapsansky (Marth 34), Spiteri, Viduka

[With his brother from Standard Liege in the stands Tony Vidmar was keen to
do well, and he did until injured and replaced. Soon after Adelaide City
nailed the Knights to the wall and took over top spot in the table in the
process. Zoran Matic's boys are doing it again. The crowd began chanting
'We are the Champions' after the third goal, which is not only factually
correct but underlined the edge that Adelaide have had over the Knights.]

Heidelberg United	0	-	West Adelaide 3
					(Richard Alagich 41)
					(Pablo 'Elvis' Cardozo 63)
					(George Slifkas 69)

HU : Miller, Blagojevic (Psarros 41), Vasiliadis, Watson, Scott, Despotovski,
Georgiadis, Tsolakis, Alilovic, Zmugic (Nedelkovic 45), MacNicol

WA : Blazincic, Haniotis (Keramidis 73), Hooker, Slager, Lazaridis, Slifkas,
Andrioli (Brazzale 61), Tsekenis, Alagich, Iriarte, Ndongo-Keller

[Heidelberg won last week and now they back it up with another solid loss.
I guess life has returned to normal after Christmas. I wish there were
a relegation system in place in Australia because I'd be glad to see
the Bergers go, and not just because they're from Melbourne. Honest.]

Melbourne SC 0	-	Parramatta Eagles	0
(Melbourne wins 5-3 on penalties)

MZ : Kourtis, Jolevski, Trajkovski, Della Rocca, Angelovski, Zinni, Banini,
Karkaletsis, Emmanuelle, Lazarevski, Trajcevski (Enes 65)

PE : Franken, Orlic, Renaud, P Souris, Gwynne, Mendez, Moffitt,
Reda (Brayshaw 78), Ciantar (Sprod 45), Gilbert, Gunning

[Looks like Parramatta's high position on the table is being found out.]

Sydney Olympic 2	-	Marconi-Fairfield	1
(Joe Bacak 20, 47) (Matthew Bingley 51)

SO : Gibson, Spyridakos, Barrett, Juric, Sorras, Meredith, Maloney, Tsekenis,
Milosevic (Lee 67), Johnson (Tome 46), Bacak

MF : Pogliacomi, Dee, Colombo, Casserly, Ortiz, Taliadoros (Smith 76), Talay,
Bingley, Corica, Harper, Soper (Gomez 45)

[Olympic hit some form and Marconi continue to struggle and look like they
might miss out on a top 6 spot. Olympic, though no Barcelona, are putting
some good results together. Let's see if it lasts.]

Sydney United 2	-	South Melbourne 1
(Mark Rudan 39) (Paul Trimboli 39)
(Eric Hristodoulou 80)

SU : Kalac, Stanton, Kupresak, M Babic, Bilokapic, Naumovski (Moric 71),
Popovic, Hristodoulou, Rudan, Milicic, Zdrilic (Ivan Petkovic 59)

SM : Anastasiadis, Davidson, Valkanis, Lucchetta (Wade 81), Muscat,
Boutsianis, Damianos (Mangos 81), Polak, Awaritefe, Kelic, Trimboli

[Rudan is a youth player who is certainly improving by leaps and bounds we'll
see him scoring lots for Australia in the 1998 World Cup final ;-). Meanwhile
many miles away Brian Gunn does himself an injury and the trial Zeljko Kalac
has with Norwich turns itself into a straight out transfer deal. Figures
indicate Kalac will become Australia's first $1mil man (The previous high
being $800,000 for Carl Veart from Adelaide City to Sheffield Utd).]
