Melbourne Croatia were crowned 1990/91 National Soccer League Premiers after winning the league by three competition points
Melbourne Croatia, South Melbourne, Adelaide City, Marconi and Parramatta Melita Eagles contested the Post season top five series
St. George and Wollongong Makedonia were relegated to the 1992 New South Wales First Division competition
Sunshine George Cross were relegated to the 1992 Victorian Premier League competition
Newcastle Breakers and Brisbane Strikers were added to the 1991/2 National Soccer League competition
West Adelaide were promoted to the 1991/2 National Soccer League competition from the 1990 South Australian State League competition
