Stallions v Force

Round 3 report by Fred Legget
Marconi-Fairfield v Adelaide Force

Not a lot to say about last night's game at Marconi Stadium

The way things are at the moment, we come expecting to see them get beat, and they certainly didn;t spring any surprises last night.

For a wee while there it seemed as if we might even get a win, after young Mr Brosque escaped the clutches of Ligati and scored, but an equaliser and a late winner sent us off to the club in search of solace.

We weren't actually 'crap' like last week.....just, well, sort of ...uninspiringly pedestrian, and once again a coach of a side who has just beaten us is quoted as saying that if his side can win when not playing all that well then it looks good for the future.

Conversely, from where I sit, if we get beat by teams who admit they are nowhere near their best, god (any, or all of them) help us when we actually play a team who is in form!

In truth, there was probably more entertainment in actually getting to the game and finding a seat in the club after it, than there was in the actual game itself.

A train from Hurstville to Glenfield to catch another train there to Fairfield to pay for a $20 cab ride from Fairfield to the club is something that is wearing a bit thin even on dedicated, 'get a life' supporters me, and this Friday night madness seems to be having the desired effect - ie keeping people away.

Once again there seemed to be lots of free tickets around..except for me (personna non gratia)and GKW that is, but a chance encounter with the visiting Eddie Krncevic saw me get one.

Top bloke Edi.

I'd estimate the crowd at 2200 (and that is being generous) - we'll see what the 'feeshul' figure is.

GKW has already documented the latest piece of superb managerial brilliance by the club's board, so I won't dwell on it, other than to say I fully expect such things under this current mob.

Having said that the e-mail has already been sent to the General Manager of the club, congratulating him on this latest fiasco, and we'll see what sort of response we get.

One player who deserves special mention is Robbie Enes.

I had my doubts about him when I heard he had signed, but he put in yet another professional performance.

And no I don;t blame Raul Blanco that much for the way things are.

yes. he's the coach and therefore the first point of call when things go bad, but I'm afraid even if they dug up Jock Stein, took some of his DNA and cloned him, he too would have trouble under the current set up.

The problems associated with Marconi, like the gentle rain we felt last night, filter down from the very top.
