Marconi v Cosmos

Round 16 report by Fred Legget
Marconi-Fairfield v Canberra Cosmos

Marconi played with a degree of complaceny that deservedly got them caught out.

As for playing with 10 men, well, having had the unfortunate experience of supporting a team that Brian Hamilton played for, for several years, all I can say is that it is always an improvement when he leaves the field.

"anonymous in midfield" was how he was described in one match report on a Hibs game.

I knew our goose was cooked as soon as he got sent off, and so it came to pass, without him there to supply lot of passes to us, Canberra improved and scored two goals more likley to be witnessed at a suburban or school oval, such was what could be only jokingly referred ot as our defence when the goals went in.

That is not to denigrate Canberra, they had most of the midfield play, and worryingly, gave the impression that they were prepared to work harder for the victory.

They deserved to win.

Still well pissed off.
