Cosmos v Olympic

Round 11 report by Chris Kunz
Canberra Cosmos v Sydney Olympic

This was one of the best games seen at Bruce this season. Both sides played pretty well, though Olympic certainly deserved ther win. Mendez was superb, particularly in the first half and it was his run that caused Barlow in the Canberra goal to bring him down for the penalty.

In the second half De Jesus had a claim for a similar judgement waived away by Micallef when he was pulled from behind - but I would have to watch the TV replay to be certain of this one.

PJ Roberts made a sound return the UK and generally the Cosmos played with commitment and some creativity, particularly in the second half when they were spurred on by Arranz's chip 'over' Bouhoutsos.

Baillie's flick header for the third made the scoreline unnecessarily troublesome reading, but this Olympic side, with Tome back, fired well and will be a real handful for all teams.

Canberra can take some heart from the performance if not the result, but are drifting dangerously near a cellar they know too well in their years of alcoholism!
