Carlton v Cosmos

Round 10 report by David Arnold
Carlton SC v Canberra Cosmos

New feature - Referee Rating. Marks are awarded out of 10 but may also figure on the negative axis. Hencforth the referee tonight (can't remember who he was) gets 2 out ot 10.

Packer, Deans and Conroy were vacationing which meant a start for Anthopoulos and Terminello, probably our best player. Atkinson played very well at the back, I reckon he should play here from now on. Thompson played left with Moreira and Jonesy upfront. Crapcornersky returned from suspension.

We looked lost in the first 20 minutes while Canberra played it nicely around. Got into it with about 20 minutes to go. Got a free kick outside the box on a fair angle, Stabber sent a low slammer that the keeper let in at the near post.

Roly bought the ball up and played Moriera going wide, his shot/cross from near the goalline was missed by everybody and the net.

Jonesy had a poor game, well out of touch. Although he was kicked from here to half past Tuesday and never got a good deal form the ref.

Winnie was sent off for cheapshotting Marth with an elbow to the head, I am sure most of you agree it's time Marth got a taste of his own medicine.

Roly again bought the ball up and sent a lovely gambetta that Moreira headed into the net via a deflection. If Moreira had half a brain he could do serious damage.

Essentially, his pace and power took him clear of Canberra's molasses but he'd shoot wide, into the keeper, over the bar. He must have had 10 chances all night and missed about 5 sitters. He just hasn't got a clue with the ball at his feet and in space. He MUST slow down and let the defence take the ball off him.

Thompson scored after picking the ball up on the wing and dinking it past. Moreira got his hattrick via a couple of placed shots. Motsiopoulos, a lovely young touch striker, came on and really impressed.

De Jesus waved a bone and chipped a beautiful ball past Deano.
