Glory v Carlton

Round 9 report by David Arnold
Perth Glory v Carlton SC

Last Wednesday I went home from a game happy. Today, it's been a pretty bad one and an entirely [un]forgettable week. The Joeys going so close, Carlton's poor crowd + excuse for football last week etc. Yeah I have problems don't I?

I arrived at Chas Dickens with us 1-0 down, didn't see it. Ergic, possibly the best player in the comp at the moment, is Bresciano mark 2+.

Markovski equalised with a soft header from Packer's cross. Ergic scored a classic header from an inswinging corner. Boutsianis hit the bar from a free kick. Moreira equalised with another header after Petkovic blocked Thompson's shot. Miller shot from a looped cross behind our defence that Deano somehow got his hands onto. Brilliant backheel from Halpin found Traj taking it to the line to cut back for Miller? to finish.

Carlton turned in another pitiful performance against a classy side and the alarm bells are ringing surely. Only the referee was more pitiful or Dempsey at the awards ceremony on Saturday.

Conspiracy theory? Lapansky sent off by a Sydney ref in a Melbourne Sydney game for something I don't understand. Wehrman is sent off for two yellow-card tackles, fair enough. Conroy is sent off for a love tap on the calf? A yellow card I would not find complaint with. But a red card??

Not taking it away from Perth, 9 men and a drug addict they still banged 4 past our cowards, which is the only apt word to describe Carlton. Perth have balls, the Joeys have balls but Carlton don't have balls. Haven't really had them since halfway through last season either.

Just to finish off a wonderful day, let's check the date. The 29th rings a bell, I wonder why.
