Olympic v Marconi

Round 8 report by deaser@mail.one.net.au
Sydney Olympic v Marconi-Fairfield

I hate to have to admit it but tonight the Stallions were beaten by a better team. We were lucky that the score was not 4 or 5. Apart from one brief interlude at the start of the second half Marconi were never in the game. Only the heroics of young Michael Turnbull kept the score down.

Hard to find someone who had a good game for Marconi. The best were probably Christian Care who scored a corked of a goal, Michael Turnbull who kept the score decent and the ever reliable Buggsy, who was substituted in the second half - I hope he's not injured.

Harry Karl got a run in the second half but was so out of touch it was embarassing - he has to get more match play - perhaps Eddy could play him in the reserves.

Paulo Marchesini - come on guys - a joke's a joke, but this has gone on too long. Some one should admit they were wrong and send him back where he came from.

For Olympic Emerton was great - I've never been a fan but today he won me over. Ian Rush - the man is a touch of class. Marcus Phillips - surely this is not the same guy, who was woeful at Bossley Park last season - maybe he just wanted to prove Marconi were wrong to get rid of him.

Hurry back Mark Babic & Dominic longo - where are you Frances Awaritefe? - Until we get our full squad back on the paddock I'm afraid The Stallions are in for some lean weeks.
