Carlton v Power

Round 8 report by David Arnold
Carlton SC v Parramatta Power

"Cheer up Parra Power
oh what can it mean
to a fake Sydney United
and a shite football team"

After the woof comes the fall. Having so boldly predicted Carlton would win a game by turning up at the park, Power pretty much gave us a lesson in humility.

It was looking so good too. Moreira on the bench, Archie and Conroy upfront, Jonesy in midfield and the usuals. Plenty of half- opportunities, none taken. Thompson should have done better with a free header at the back post. Conroy was free in a 1-1 but shot wide.

Our back 3 were getting stretched - first time I've seen it happen and Griffiths worked hard for his goal, getting space and slotting perfectly past Deano.

Two minutes later, a similiar goal for Griffiths.

Two minutes after THAT, Lubo, on a yellow for diving, gets a second for 'diving' when a Power player went in waist-high just outside the box. You can guess who the ref was.

2 goals and a red card just before halftime and game's over. Marth scored late after Moreira dived in the box. I think it was Roly who cleared straight into a Power player but the ball rebounded into the goal.
