Carlton v Cosmos

Round 6 report by David Arnold
Carlton SC v Canberra Cosmos

Arrived late didn't get first goal. I would like to think Moreira dribbled 5 men rounded the keeper and slotted home but I don't think so.

Carlton aren't having much luck off-field this year. First game at home with a big media buildup is opposite the Gaelic football match. Tonight they were filming a commercial in Ange's pet hate but it was piddling down all day and everybody went undercover.

Why they don't wait for the first derby - 6 weeks - is beyond me.

Carlton were very strong in all areas and simply too much for the Cosmos. The Four Horseman of the Apocalypse (although they reckon Deano acts like a dog - "fetch Deano" - his racing out to get the ball...) were as always excellent in defence. And does anyone else reckon Deans should be called up to Farina's squad?

Packer was borderline awesome at times, he dribbled 3 men in the second half before blazing wide. Whilst Conroy may be a hack - judgement reserved - he does bring others into the game, Packer in particular.

Oh, the second goal. Keeper kicked out, returned with interest. Thompson, standing 10/20 metres offside (I'm willing to negotiate here) saw a Canberra player have a slash at the ball and was in like Flynn. A 'clearance' like that is deserving of a goal as punishment.
