Breakers v Kingz

Round 4 report by Grant Stantiall
Newcastle Breakers v Football Kingz

John Portovouglia? for Breakers early in the first half (was still tuning the tele in) Magical goal by Wynton Rufer in the 86th minute to level the game.

Great second half performance from the Kingz, with Dino Menillo having a great game on the left side. Everytime he got the ball things looked to be happening. The Kingz dominated the second half and their fitness proved to be the thing that kept them in it.

Marcus Stergiopoulos came on for Robbie Middleby in the last 15 minutes and he too created space down the right. It was Sterg's cross in the 86th minute that resulted in the amazing overhead bicycle kick, call it what you like - resulting in Rufers' amazing goal. I can't wait to see it unscrambled on TVNZ news tomorrow. The Aussie commentators were also impressed with the Kingz and it was good to hear their commentary. I thought it was professionally done.

Menillo was interviewed straight after the game and his quote regarding Rufer and his goal: "He's the best player I've ever seen".

To say the Kingz were unlucky not to take all the points would be an understatement, but Breakers keeper Bob Catlin kept them in the game with some great saves.

My MOTM would have to be Menillo, who was unlucky not to score the winner in the 93rd minute. Our first point in Australia. Excellent.

Whose next, Wollongong next Saturday @ the CASTLE (North Harbour Stadium). Can't wait!!
