Marconi v Carlton

Round 3 report by deaser@one.net.au
Marconi-Fairfield v Calrton

I'd like to say we were pathetic...but....the effort tonight didn't deserve such high praise. Beaten 4 - 0 by Cartlon - perhaps revenge for changing the beverages served in the club to the "lion-Nathan product" - have we ever lost by a bigger score at home? We should have tonight. Only the fact that we were up against mediocre opposition kept the score down. After the fine marketing effort which brought in a decent crowd, I wonder how many of the new fans will be back.

After Sean Babic limped off the field with what looked like a torn hamstring, the Stallions never looked likely to score.

What about Archie Thomson? Has this guy got the worst case of bad breath in history or just terrible flatulence? - he had more room than a pimple in Dolly Parton's bra. Seriously though, this bloke is a class act, though he needs some sound advice in the tonsorial department.

Big McPherson got a fair amount of "Hee Hawing" from the crowd behind the goal - but had the last laugh when he headed home a fine goal (unmarked and unchallenged) late in the game - I could have sworn he looked straight at Forza and mouthed "Hee Hee".

To top off a disastrous night for the Stallions, Aceski was sent off with about five minutes to go - surely the penalty would have been sufficient - the challenge was definitely illegal but by no means vicious or dangerous.

The only compensation for Marconi is the hope that things can only get better. Let's hope some of the new fans come back and give us a second chance.
