Carlton v Glory

Round 27 report by David Arnold
Carlton SC v Perth Glory

"Do you come from Melbourne?"- sung to the Glory supporters [the answer is yes]

Carlton in Olympic Park goals shock horror... the resurrection has taken place... Marth does it again... the referee's a wanker...

Sir Simon Scirea made his long awaited comeback. Nearly 9 months after being cowardly put out of the game by a sycophantic mercenary, the Great Man made his return.

Fairly tight but exciting (maybe not to you, but it was the best football Carlton have played at home in nearly 4 months) first half. Jonesy and Packer upfront, Archie and Vasilevski wide, Stuart Slacker on the bench, Mick Conory in the stands. Aaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

We scored two rapid fire Marth goals early in the second. He was put through perfectly and powered his way down to strike truly. His second came after a cross and he finished at the back post.

Perth were fairly pedestrian for long periods - we caught them exactly at the right time after the unlamented drug addict left them in dubious circumstances (His timing is astounding). I did not see Ergic or were Perth really struggling? Their defence are absolute monsters though. Sheesh...

They scored from an excellent placed shot from Despotvoski just outside the area. He had another shot come down off the bar just afterwards which was hacked out.

Simes came on to a huge (ahem) roar. He of course made a few mistakes but shrugged them off and went upfield dribbling 2 men, powering past and bulldozing their keeper neatly for Vasilevski to score. Somebody slap me before I break down. He's back. He's unfit but he's back. Pray he still got that acceleration...

There is a key to Carlton playing well but I aint gonna tell what it is - all you spies can suck me.
