Carlton v Strikers

Round 25 report by David Arnold
Carlton SC v Brisbane Strikers

Heh, just read one of my previous match reports about Carlton over the last few months playing at home and you have this game in a nutshell.

Round 7 and in Brisbane these two teams put on an entertaining, clueful game as one would expect from the teams 1-2 on the ladder. Since then both have been out of the six and on tonight's 'performance' both teams do not deserve to be in the six.

All arse and no tit. Conroy nearly! scored when a mistake in the Strikers defence allowed him to chip over a back-pedalling Bolton. But his shot hit the crossbar.

We scored after Slater crossed to Marth who nodded down to Slim coming through, Slim controlled it perfectly before giving a perfect lesson in finishing to our useless upfront twats. Munro was actually suffering from headaches and had to go home before the game started. I know if I played Conroy and Moreira upfront I would be suffering as well.

We may have had as much as 3 penalties, at least 2 of them looked on the money but I won't harp much. Micallef is an okay ref, one of the better ones in this league.

The club threw open the doors to the hobnobs bar after, a gesture much appreciated by the club's 348 fans. The frosty looks we got from some of the establishment makes it doubtful I'll be back.

Thanks to Alan's much appreciated (and unpaid?) updates, I see we are actually 5th, 1 ahead of Marconi and 5 or so points ahead of Souths who have a game in hand.

Make no mistake : our 2 games against South will decide the finals.
