Brunswick Juventus were crowned 1985 National Soccer League Champions after defeating Sydney City 2-0 in the two legged National Grand Final
Sydney City were crowned 1985 National Soccer League Northern Division Premiers
Brunswick Juventus were crowned 1985 National Soccer League Southern Division Premiers
Sydney City, Sydney Croatia, Marconi, Sydney Olympic and St. George contested the Northern Division top five final series
South Melbourne, Brunswick Juventus, Heidelberg United, Melbourne Croatia and Preston Makedonia contested the Southern Division top five final series
Inter Monaro were promoted from the 1984 New South Wales State League into the Northern Division
Penrith City were relegated to the 1986 New South Wales State League competition
Canberra Arrows were renamed Canberra City Olympians for the 1985 season
Each league continued with 12 teams over 22 rounds of matches
