This match was a friendly game organised between Sutherland Sharks and Northern Spirit FC. The Spirit side played new signing Matthew Bingley returning to Australia after a stint with JEF United in Japan and Paul Foster who was trialling after five seasons with Instant Dict in Hong Kong. A good crowd of approximately 1,000 saw the match which gave the new look Sutherland side an oppurtunity to develop a bit more combination for the 1999 Super League season. In the youth league match played as a curtain raiser the Northern Spirit FC Youth Team 6 (Ryan Griffiths x3, Adam Griffiths, Adam Snyder) defeated the Sutherland Under 21's 2.
