The Austrian club side Rapid Vienna and a side from South China toured Australia in 1955. Two exhibition games between the sides were played with the second match being played in Sydney. Rapid Vienna were troubled by so many injuries that coach Franz Wagner took the field at outside right. He was replaced by Dutch born 25 year old Jim De Pyper from the Sydney Austral club. He scored three goals.
