South Korea v Australia report by FFA

South Korea 3 - Australia 0

The Qantas Matildas have concluded their six-match tour of Asia overnight with a 3-0 loss against Korea in Jeonju.

After a scoreless first half Korea scored three goals within an 11-minute period early in the second half to ensure victory. The Qantas Matildas were playing their sixth match in 15 days including international matches against China, Japan and, two days earlier, against Korea in a match which finished scoreless.

Despite the scoreline the Australians shaded possession over the course of the match though the home side came out on top of the free-kick tally 22-4.

The Qantas Matildas created a number of openings in the first half with Lana Harch, Leah Blayney and Katie Gill all causing anxious moments for the Korean defence.

In slippery conditions the Koreans opened the scoring after 56 minutes courtesy of a close-range header past Canberra-based goalkeeping debutant Lydia Williams. Two further goals in quick succession virtually put the game out of reach for the Qantas Matildas though the Australians were twice denied goals because of the offside flag with Lisa De Vanna and Gill the unlucky players.

The tour providing preparation ahead of the 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup and 2008 Olympic Games, both of which will be held in China.
