Merger History Originally founded under the name Port Adelaide British FC, the club later merged with Cheltenham British FC in 1914. Port Adelaide merged with Port Thistle in 1956 as well as USC Lion SC in 1993, the latter amalgamation resulting in the formation of Port Adelaide Lion.
